Snoring

Snoring is a result of the airway being partially blocked, causing air to pass through the airway faster. This causes the soft tissue of the uvula and soft palate to vibrate, thus creating the sound we know as “snoring”. Often times the position of your tongue falling to the back of your throat contributes to this sound. The causes of snoring are numerous:

  • Sleeping on your back
  • Overweight
  • Large neck size
  • Large tonsils and/or adenoids
  • Mouth breathing during sleep
  • Being overly tired
  • Eating or drinking alcohol too late at night

Dr. Hilton and Dr. Ponce are both UCLA residency trained in the diagnosis and treatment options for your snoring.
